Blomsma Signs & Safety B.V. has been awarded the contract for the pipe marking and signage plan for the new MGC Specialty Chemicals XA-1 plant.
Blomsma Signs & Safety has been contracted to realize the pipe markings and signage plan for the MGC Specialty Chemicals XA-1 plant currently under construction on the Huntsman Holland site in Rotterdam-Botlek.
The new XA-1 plant of MGC, part of Mitsubishi Gas Chemical Co. Ltd., will be equipped with sustainable PolyesPro® pipe markers. All pipes will be marked in accordance with ISO 20560-1, as self-adhesive wrap-around labels. In pipe racks, markings and cross-sectional signs will also be placed at strategic positions where platforms or floors are present.
Our 3M™ Certified Safety Sign Installers™ will ensure that all markings are applied properly, in close cooperation with our project and field engineers, who are pre-coding the process.
To complete the signage system and meet legal requirements, Blomsma is also providing the signage plan. The combination of process safety markings and general safety signage will be developed in accordance with ISO/TS 20559:2020. This technical specification complements the core standards for safety signage (ISO 3864, ISO 7010, ISO 16069, ISO 23601, ISO 17398, ISO 20560, and ISO 45001), offering practical guidance for a visual communication system aimed at reducing risks.
For this project, Blomsma is working in close cooperation with MGC as well as the (sub)contractors responsible for various scopes of work.
In January 2021, MGC Specialty Chemicals Netherlands B.V. (MSCN) was established in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, by the Japanese chemical manufacturer Mitsubishi Gas Chemical Co., Ltd. (MGC).
In September 2021, MGC decided to license the production and sale of MXDA to MSCN and build a new MXDA plant in Botlek, Rotterdam.
In 2021, construction of the new MXDA Plant with the project name “XA-1 Project” started.
