Safety signage and escape route marking for platform DolWin Alpha

In 2010 Heerema Fabrication Group Zwijndrecht received the contract from ABB Sweden for the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) of the DolWin Alpha HVDC platform. The topsides consist of 5 deck levels. The construction of the topsides was split into two parts and fabricated in parallel to meet the tight time schedule for construction. The modules were fabricated and assembled at the Heerema Zwijndrecht yard. Heerema Fabrication Group has awarded Blomsma Signs & Safety the contract for the realization of a complete signaling system. The safety signage and escape route marking on the DolWin Alpha platform started with the development of a sign plan. Based on supplied architectural drawings. The sign plan was hereafter evaluated by Class and approved for implementation.

Scope of the project

During the installation several parallel projects started; the production and installation of pipe marking and tank marking, valve and equipment tags and the Platform Identification signs.

After the installation of the platform offshore, ABB contracted Blomsma Signs & Safety for several upgrades and signage of hook-up items. The signplan has been the basis for managing all updates and upgrades during the entire period.
