Blomsma Signs & Safety was commissioned by Evides Industriewater B.V. to realize an addition to the safety and health signage at the Sloe WWTP (Vlissingen). The project was a result of the expansion of the site with a biogas reprocessing plant. With the arrival of this new plant, the so-called EX zones (explosion hazard zones) had changed. Reason enough to revise and supplement the signage.

Project Approach and Scope

In this project, we focused on the implementation of safety signage, with a specific focus on:

• Escape route signage: durable retro-reflective escape route signage was planned, produced and installed by our team to ensure safe evacuation in case of emergency.
• EX area signage: in addition, clear EX overview and impression signs were created to provide a clear visual overview of the situation and contribute to a safe working environment.

Our starting points for this project are anchored in laws and regulations, including:

• EU Directive 92/58/EEC: For safety and escape route signs.
• EU Directive 1992/92/EC: For explosive atmospheres.
• Working Conditions Regulations Chapter 8: For safety and health signs.
• ISO17398: For quality, durability and performance requirements of signs.

Implementation
