Blomsma Signs & Safety has successfully completed production testing for color phosphorescent safety signs. Colored phosphorescent signage contributes significantly to the recognition of, for instance, ‘Safe condition’ signs such as escape route signage, where the green base color of the symbol ‘glows’ in dark or black-out situations. Also, more light emits off the entire sign.
The colors on standard phosphorescent signs look black in a dark or black-out situation. The main achievement is mainly in the plain cover color imprint, no special pattern needs to be applied.
“The next step is the optimization of the color phosphorescent values in accordance with the classification specified in the ISO17398, no easy task," says Roy Querfurth, production manager. “The color red surpresses light emissions, the phosphorescent pigment in red surfaces needs to be applied in a much higher concentration “. Roy continues; “Several applications are possible with the developed production method, such as glow in the dark evacuation plans, featuring phosphorescent colors for any displayed escape routes, safety symbols and even the structural situation”.
Phosphorescent class C and D on aluminum material, mainly used on Naval vessels, the entire ISO24409 and ISO7010 series are available in colored glow in the dark.
