Stolthaven Moerdijk is a strategically located facility with a flexible one-stop logistics solution for its customers. The terminal is equipped with multiple tank pits, and has loading facilities for ships, tankers, and wagons. They also offer additional services such as substance blending and drum filling. With this variety of activities, the company therefore sets high standards for safety and regulatory compliance, including the SEVESO III (BRZO) and PGS standards.
At the Moerdijk site, Blomsma Signs & Safety is active in optimizing the visual communication of the safety policy; improving safety information through visual language.
In 2020, the cooperation with Stolthaven Moerdijk B.V. started with an on-site inventory, resulting in a detailed signage plan – the first phase. This plan consists of drawings of the buildings, installations, and terrain showing the positions of any legally required and additional signage, with details of format, design, and mounting method.
After reviewing this plan and setting priorities, the production and installation of the signs were started. Phase II has now been completed, during which we installed the escape route signs and signs for fire-fighting and rescue equipment on site. This phase also included signs with overviews of all storage tanks in the various tank pits.
The scope of this project includes the realization of the safety signage system according to the signage plan, and includes the following aspects:
1. Escape route signage: We marked the escape routes on the site at strategic positions with durable signage and the assembly points were signed.
2. Fire-fighting and rescue signage: The locations of fire-fighting and rescue equipment have been clearly marked with signs for quick and effective responses in case of emergency.
3. Storage tanks Overview signs: Using 3D graphic impressions and switch elements, we created detailed overview signs to provide a clear view of storage tanks and tank pits on the site.
4. Work Preparation and Assembly: Our expert teams provided engineering, work planning, design, work preparation, and assembly of all signage, paying attention to crucial details and visibility.
Our principles and approach for this project were based on compliance with laws and regulations; the Working Conditions Decree and the Working Conditions Regulations. We worked in compliance with the following articles:
We apply the latest standards such as ISO7010, ISO17398, ISO/TS/20559 and PGS standards (e.g. PGS 15, PGS 29) for the implementation of signage.
