For Kisuma Chemicals B.V., we did a reconstruction and revision of the wayfinding site signage. In connection with the redesign of Kisuma’s forecourt, traffic flows had changed and this needed to be incorporated into the wayfinding system.
From the concept plan provided by Kisuma, an on-site inspection, and our maintenance, we created a signage plan. This plan shows the locations and layouts of the various components of the signage system and thus forms the scope of the project.
– Engineering of the site signage plan, including graphic design
– Production and delivery of the planned signage
o Route and information signs in a simple, comprehensible style
o Safety signs for Factory zone
o Traffic signs (selection)
– Work preparation and assembly of the signage
Based on the prepared signage plan, the signs were designed by Blomsma Signs & Safety and the layouts were submitted to Kisuma for approval. After this approval, the production of the semi-finished products and required prints was initiated and the delivery and assembly of the signs took place.
An assigned project engineer/work planner took care of all documentation; permit applications, personnel sign-off, work planning, managing the Blomsma assembly team, quality control and delivery. A Blomsma assembly team consisting of (in-house) qualified personnel with experience in the chemical and industrial sector handled the assembly. These 3M™ Certified Safety Signs Installers™ have the necessary safety training such as VCA-Basic, VCA-VOL and working at height to ensure that all work is carried out safely.
3M™ Scotchcall™ Reflection material was used for the signage. The material has a protective laminate and is guaranteed to be UV-resistant and colorfast.
Kisuma Chemicals B.V. produces up to 30,000 tons of magnesium-based products per year in Veendam, which are delivered from stock to customers around the world. The company is a subsidiary of Japan’s Kyowa Chemical Industry, which also has plants in Japan and China and sales offices in Singapore and Houston, USA. In 1997, Kyowa decided to establish its first non-Japanese plant in the northern Netherlands because of the presence of high-purity magnesium chloride, the main raw material for the company’s products.
