For DSM in Leeuwarden, we realized the site routing (wayfinding) and safety signs that together form a fitting safety system designed entirely in the DSM corporate identity.
Routing on plant premises is important to ensure that staff, visitors and drivers quickly find the right way from A to B. This is efficient and safer, reducing the number of traffic movements. For DSM, for example, we drew up a signalization plan for the site routing and entrances to the Pallas plant, the raw materials warehouse of the Apollo plant, all loading and unloading bays, the chemical containers and the Ammonia engine room. This plan was further detailed together with DSM and subsequently executed by Blomsma Signs & Safety.
The objective of the project for DSM was to realize the required safety and health signage as prescribed in current laws and regulations and that contribute to the safety of employees, visitors, contractors, surroundings and emergency services.

For a project like this, where the signs must not only comply with applicable laws, regulations and standards, but also meet DSM’s corporate identity guidelines, we created layouts and impression images in the design and planning process that were submitted for evaluation and review. Below you can see some of these impressions which, after approval, were produced and placed on the site one-to-one by Blomsma.
3M™ Scotchcall™ Reflection material is used to ensure a lifespan of at least 10-15 years. The material is coated with protective laminate and is guaranteed to be Uv-resistant and colorfast. The 3M™ Matched Component System™ (MCS™) warranty applies and is valid for a period of 5 years.
Blomsma Signs & Safety of course also guarantees that this project will be carried out in accordance with laws and regulations. All markings/signs placed by Blomsma are provided with a unique article number for management of the layouts and in connection with maintenance and upkeep of the installed signage.
